Sylvania, Georgia
Mrs. Barbara Ann Squire, age 61, of Sylvania, passed into eternal rest on Monday, September 21, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro after a brief illness.
Barbara Squire was born in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Maureen Doggett and Gerald Scholtes. Throughout her life, Barbara was known for her loving heart, her devotion to family and friends, and the warmth she freely shared with those around her.
Barbara was a woman who cherished family. She especially loved children and found great joy in being surrounded by those she loved. Her caring and affectionate nature made others feel welcome and valued, and she treasured the time spent creating memories with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, and for Barbara, the kitchen was another place where her love could be expressed and shared.
On December 2, 1989, Barbara married Kenneth Squire, beginning a marriage and life together filled with family and many treasured memories.
Barbara was the loving mother of Heather Mills, Megan Johnson, Jessica Walthall, Christy Lovette, Shannon Lovette, and the late Melisa Squire. She was blessed to be a grandmother to Makayla Squire, David Mills, Kaley Taylor, AJ Walthall, Owen Johnson, Chase Bledsoe, Preston Newton, Brittney Bohler, Andrew Lovette, Destiny Gross, and Bryson Gross.
Barbara was also blessed to see another generation of her family through her great-grandchildren, Jaxson Bohler and Kinzley Bohler.
Barbara shared the bonds of family with her siblings, Tammy Atkinson, Cindy Cogley, and Patricia Ouzts. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Scholtes II.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents, Maureen Doggett and Gerald Scholtes; her daughter, Melisa Squire; her grandson, Lil Ricky Johnson; and her brother, Gerald Scholtes II.
Those who knew Barbara will remember a woman who was big on family and friends, loved to cook, loved children, and above all, was loving to everyone. The love she poured into the lives of others will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Kenneth Squire; her children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were made richer because Barbara was a part of them.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the meals shared, conversations enjoyed, laughter remembered, and love Barbara gave so freely will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was centered around the people she loved, and her memory will forever remain a part of the family she treasured so dearly.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, September 30, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM for family visitation and viewing.
Celebration of life services will be held privately at the family residence.
Please keep the Squire family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
