Mr. Kevin M. Murray "Kato" was born April 9,1978, to the late Terry "Ted" Murray and Adell Bostic Murray of Statesboro, Georgia. He was educated in the Evans County schools and completed Job Corps; he worked as a mechanic. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Music was DJKato's biggest passion in life; he entertained at countless venues. He was well known and celebrated for his musical talent as a DJ. Kato enjoyed socializing with family and friends and simply being humorous. He had a unique ability to bring joy, fun and laughter to everyone he met. His lively spirit leaves an indelible effect on all those who knew him. To cherish his memory, Kevin leaves behind his mother, Adell Bostic Murray (Charles McNeal), of Statesboro, GA; his children, Devonta (John Boy) Bacon, Kevinah Williams, Jai'lon Crawford and Kanaja Murray and Kyland Griffin; grandchildren; Brooklyn Moody, DeVonta Moody, Alana Bacon, Gracelyn Knight, and Kaysin Knight; Two brothers; Marco Murray and James Murray; One sister: LaWanda Murray, one maternal uncle, Terry Bostic of Metter, GA. Paternal aunts and uncles include Emma (Arthur) Littles, Annie Marie Bacon, James (Myrtice) Murray all from Hagan, GA, Michael (Elizabeth) Murray of Claxton, GA, Margaret Murray of Swainsboro, GA and Lisa (Jonathan) Martin of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Two Special Nieces: Shameka Murray and Maury Murray, A very special friend, Cheletta Battle. Special friends also include Eric Byrd, Seiko Davis, Delmonte Littles, Treyvain Jackson, JaQuay Nobles and Willie Joe Boggs; a host of great uncles and aunts, family and friends. Public viewing for Mr. Murray will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with family visitation from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Moody's Funeral Home, 201 Church St, Claxton, GA 30417. Funeral Services to honor the life and legacy of Kevin "DJ Kato" Murray will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church No. 1, 121 Mt. Olive Church Road, Register, GA with Rev. Darrell Hart, Pastor/Presiding and Rev. Dr. Willie Ceasar Jr., Eulogist. Pallbearers will be Willie Joe Boggs, Eric Byrd, Jeff Calhoun, Treyvain Jackson, Deonta Moore, Malik Newbill, and JaQuay Nobles Per Kevin's wishes, his remains will be cremated following his Celebration of Life services.
