Shirley Anne Prescott, affectionately known to her friends and family as "Shirley P," was born on July 21, 1953, in Statesboro, Georgia. She departed this world for eternity on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that echoes in the hearts of her family and dear friends.
Educated within the confines of the Bulloch County School System, Shirley devoted her life to caring for others. For nearly four decades, from 1970 until her retirement in 2008, she served as a Certified Nurse's Assistant retiring from the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. In this role, she was more than just a caregiver; she was a gift of hope and support, gifted with a nurturing spirit that radiated warmth and love to every person she cared for. Her passionate commitment to the well-being of others made her a cherished presence not only among her patients but also among her colleagues.
Shirley’s heart was as expansive as her talents in the kitchen. She took great joy in baking, particularly her legendary red velvet cakes, which have become synonymous with family celebrations and cherished memories. An adept cook, she gathered her loved ones around the table, hosting sumptuous feasts and birthday parties, forever creating an atmosphere brimming with laughter and connection. Beyond her culinary prowess, she found delight in challenges, whether they were crossword puzzles or the thrill of fishing, always seeking to enrich her life with little joys.
An endearing social butterfly, Shirley embraced modern technology to sustain connections with her loved ones, frequently interacting with family and friends on Facebook. Her playful spirit shone through her fondness for the lottery and slot machines, with regular jaunts to Red Lobster to enjoy her favorite meals.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, the late Frank Flemming.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband Marvin Lee Prescott of Statesboro, GA, and their beloved children: LaRhonda Prescott, Marvin L. Prescott, Jr., Nick Prescott all of Statesboro, GA; and James Prescott of Portal, GA; her adoration extended to her eight grandchildren: Shirmara, Deodre', B.J., Emily, Raashonda, Dawn, Jarvin and James Franklin Prescott, Jr., as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her mother, Martha Rock Flemming of Statesboro, GA; and her brothers, Craig (Teresa) Flemming of Metter, GA; and Charles Jordan of Statesboro, GA, and a daughter in love Shavon Shaniel McWilliams of Perry, GA
