Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. Theodore Roosevelt “Coopie” Scriven, Sr., age 71, of Statesboro, GA. Mr. Scriven passed away early Friday morning, January 12, 2024, at his residence, under the care of Affinis Hospice after an extended illness.


Mr. Scriven was born December 26, 1952, to his parents, the late Alexander and Roxie Mitchell Scriven, Jr., in Savannah, GA. Mr. Scriven worked in the construction industry as a roofer for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, listening to his favorite music, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.


Theodore was preceded in death by his wife, the late Savata Ray Scriven, and a daughter, the late Nakia Scriven who passed in 2022.


Theodore's memories will forever be cherished by his loving children, Nakia R. Scriven and Teresa Y. Scriven both of Savannah, GA; Stephanie L. Scriven of Statesboro, GA; and Theodore R. (Natasha) Scriven, Jr. of Savannah, GA; his siblings, Bobby (Gertrude) Mitchell, Betty Jean Scriven, both of Savannah, GA; Laverne Mitchell of Texas; Francina Scriven of Savannah, GA; Roxie (Rodrick) Riley of Savannah, GA; and Zelma Fripp of Maryland; Theodore is also survived by an Aunt Mrs. Willie Mae Duncan of Savannah, GA; nine grandsons, 4 granddaughters, one great-grandson and two great-granddaughters, his special nieces, Shakeera Scriven, Tawanna Scriven and Shana Burns, all of Savannah, GA; and a special son, Mario Humes of Savannah, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.


The Public viewing for Mr. Theodore Roosevelt “Coopie” Scriven, will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, from Noon until 5:00 P.M.


The family will be receiving guests for the family visitation from Noon to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the chapel of Adams Funeral Services, 510 Stephenson Ave, Savannah, GA 31405.


Funeral Services for Mr. Scriven will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the chapel of Adams Funeral Services, 510 Stephenson Ave, Savannah, GA 31405. Officiating will be Pastor Edward Fuller, Jr., Pastor of Prayer House Mission Holiness Church, Inc., Port Wentworth, GA.


Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery, Spring St, Savannah, GA 31408


Pallbearers will be family members and friends. 


There will be a repast following the committal services held at the Mary Flournoy Golden Age Center, 1001 W 39th Street, Savannah, GA 31405.
