Tyrone Lee Dunn, a beloved figure to many, was born on September 18, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at his sister's residence in Statesboro, Georgia, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Tyrone was well-known for his exceptional craftsmanship and handyman skills. He had a remarkable talent for home repairs and was recognized for his ability to fix just about anything, providing support to friends, family, and neighbors alike. His nurturing personality complemented his career, as he embodied humor, love, and care in every aspect of his life.
His educational journey began at IS55 Middle School, followed by the Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he earned his education. 14 years ago, Tyrone decided it was time for a new start and relocated to Statesboro, GA to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Tyrone’s interests were as diverse as his talents. A skilled fighter in martial arts, he also found joy in the rhythms of jazz music. He embraced nature, fondly nurturing his green plants and cherishing his love of animals. Tyrone was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed spending time in the fresh air, and he valued quiet moments, often laying in bed admiring his plants.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Herb, and father, Frank Artist, and his brother, Frank Dunn.
Above all, Tyrone cherished his family, creating a legacy of love within the close-knit circle of his children, grandchildren, and siblings. He is survived by his children, his daughter, Faye Janelle Dunn of Statesboro, GA; his sons, Tyrone (Lucrezia) Dunn, Jr. of North Carolina, Ezekiel Dunn of New York, his daughter Imani Lazara Dunn of Statesboro, GA, Elijah Dunn of New York, Jacob Dunn of New York; his sisters and brothers Sadie Artist, Mitt Artist, Buddy Hurley, TJ Dunn, Ronnie Artist, Sam Dunn, Jimmy Artist all of New York, and Leslie Dunn of Statesboro,GA; and Gaetana Dunn also of New York.
He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Zariah Swaby, Tiara Dunn, Domonique Dunn, Zyiah Weibel, Ivyonna Gonzales, Janoah English, Chase Gonzales, Paris Taylor, Tyrone Dunn, III, and Chloe Henderson; as well as the mothers of his children, Faith Wallace of North Carolina, Jaqcuelin Gonzales of New York and Jasmine Rodriguez of Statesboro, GA.
Tyrone Lee Dunn will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, dedicated support to his loved ones, and the laughter he brought into the lives of everyone he met. His legacy as a devoted family man and skilled craftsman will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.
Public Viewing for Mr. Dunn will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025, with the family to receive guests for the family visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Tyrone Dunn will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ollie B. Holland Memorial Chapel at the Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery, Northside Drive, Statesboro.
